[Thing is with the moon; it's completely lifeless compared to any of the other places he's been. Venus is packed and crammed with an array of life, from the thick jungles to the Fallen and Vex that swarm its surface. Earth has a vast variety despite what hell the Darkness unleashed on it during the Collapse. By all means he knows Mars has more life from the tales Kell has told.

Yet the moon is depleted and devoid of any real color. Nothing saying that life was there in the first place. Hollowed and collapsed buildings, craters, and cracks.

Underneath the surface though? That's where all of the movement was at with Hive having buried deep underneath its skin. An infestation far worse than the inklings on Earth clashing with the Devils and Kings. Hopefully they'll be no shows throughout this whole time.

It was a simple recovery mission. A fellow guardian has gone dark for the past couple of days straight now. So Vanguard wanted them located. Relatively simple hopefully.

At least that's what he hopes.

So the hunter transmats down onto the surface and rolls his shoulders, watching his tracker for movement. Nothing. Though he should've expected that at the last place the guardian transmitted from. Now he waits for the rest of the team to join up. It wasn't going to be a simple run around in the cosmodrome. Time to step up and show that the fireteam was a capable one.]

[ The moon isn't her first pick for patrol, but at least it's different than Earth and closer to Venus. If they can handle this right, that means they can handle leaving their home field. She hopes, anyway.

She transmats down onto the planet nearby and walks towards boss. This should be easy, a simple check-in on a guardian that likely got distracted while patrolling. It happens to the best of them and even she loses track of time when they're out and about in the Cosmodrome. ]

Do we need our sparrows?

[They're on the moon. Andrei can't tell whether he's excited or terrified. Probably a mix of both, if he's honest about it. So much of the lore discusses what life on the moon used to be like, back before the Collapse. Now that it has been devoured and hollowed out by Hive? Well, the thought is more than a little disconcerting.

Still, the ground beneath them is solid enough, and he's come a long way since he first encountered the Hive. They'll be better equipped this time, if anything happens.]

I'm not seeing any movement on our trackers. Any sign of our titan on the comms?

[The moon sucks.

In far more eloquent terms: the moon is an awful place that's brimming with things making attempts to kill would-be guardians, it's quiet, and it's too still. There's something so particularly off about it that makes it so disconcerting to be there.

Maybe the fact that he'd rezzed there had irrevocably coloured his opinions of the place, that could be it to, but Liam isn't thrilled to be on patrol. He's less thrilled to know that they're doing a search mission, because even though there's probably nothing wrong, it still seems incredibly eerie. It makes his skin crawl, and though he's reticent to let anyone else know, he'd much rather be back on Earth. Hell, he'd rather be back facing the knight than this.]

Nothing.

[ It's terrible when 'lost' is what they hope for, but it really is the best possible outcome. Surely they wouldn't send a guardian here that couldn't handle themselves in the face of darkness.

At James' confirmation, her sparrow is summoned and she's on it, ready to follow his lead. ]

Are they still out in force with the Hive here?

[Exiles? As in, the Fallen house? That sounds right.]

Maybe they'll have neutralized themselves for us?

[Exiles...it would be so nice if the Exiles were a thing of distant memory, because the name sparks an almost reptilian flash of discomfort and unease in the back of his brain. Not panic, he's grown beyond that, but it's difficult to forget the howling and chittering and stink of line rifle discharge.

Seriously, screw the moon.]

Should be. I mean, fallen are like roaches right? Hard to exterminate completely.

[A joke, but there's little humor to it. He does summon his sparrow though, nodding to James.]

On your mark?

That's one of the outposts closer to an underground entrance, isn't it?

[ Why would the Exiles even want to set up that close to the Hive? And wouldn't the Hive push harder to keep them away? They must not clash too much in those regions if the Fallen are able to maintain their bearings there.

But they have a destination now. Not the best one since she has no interest in seeing that kind of darkness again, but she awoke to the sounds of Vex and Fallen fighting below her. Hopefully they won't have to go much farther than the nav point. ]

[Andrei is completely fine fighting ragtag Fallen. He might even be okay if a captain shows up, now that he has his fireteam with him.

He summons his sparrow and follows everyone to their heading. At least he knows how to fly one of these so he doesn't embarrass himself.]

[None of this feels right anyways, regardless if the hive are involved. If they are, it's double awful, that's all he's concerned with. Regardless, the quicker they leave, the quicker they find the wayward guardian, and the quicker they can get off the moon for a long time.

At the very least, the areas are somewhat familiar, even if he's reticent to admit such. It makes the journey a hell of a lot smoother, though.]

[ Is the moon always this dark? It's a passing thought as they travel and she's already missing the feel of sunshine even if it's only against her armor.

And it's quiet. Where are the signs of life? It's too eerie for her liking and she shivers as she gets off her sparrow. She's almost dragging her feet as she heads up the ramp onto one of the platforms. ]

I wasn't planning on going near it.

Nope.

[He doesn't like going inside buildings. Not when there might be Hive. Still, he's not going to let James go in alone when they should be working as a team. Pulse rifle at the ready, he follows the hunter inside.]

[This is all far too familiar, and his fingers tighten on his shotgun as he draws it. It's too quiet, he doesn't remember it being this quiet, and it's putting him on edge.

At least this time he's got a good gun, and a good team.]

Rodger.

[But they have to hunt, and so hunt he does, treading carefully along the perimeter of one of the buildings, trying to assess the threat. No movement, so he spares a look inside, and when there's nothing still, head in.]

[ Her handcannon is in front of her and every movement has her turning quickly to investigate. It's clear so far, but somehow that just makes it even more eerie. ]

Do you think he went...?

[ Her gaze drifts towards the path that leads far away. To the Hive. To where even the light can't follow them. ]

[Well, at least the titan was reasonably well-armed.]

Well, what was the console used for last?

[Stepping forward to the device, he presses a few keys to wake it up. Wisp hovers at his side in case he needs help.]

No one goes down there.

[No one smart, really. The moon is a terrible place, and there are terrible things that lurk in the shadows. Better to stick to somewhere filled with safe hiding spots, like the buildings.

Thankfully there are no fallen at the time being, at least in the building that he's chosen to investigate, but that doesn't mean that there couldn't be something worse.]

[ The order makes this easier. They have an objective even if it's a short term one and she's moving closer to Andrei to guard him. ]

He could have gone down there. If he had to. [ A secret mission? Something the vanguards didn't want them to know about? Or maybe he was chased down there... She shakes her head, as if to remove those thoughts.

Surely that couldn't have happened. The guardian has to be roaming around somewhere far far away from the underground. ]

Got it.

[Waking up the machine takes a minute, and ultimately, he does need Wisp to decrypt the security so the pages will open.]

It looks like he was after a place called the--Temple of Crota? Supposedly it's up past the Anchor of Light. Maybe that's where he went.

No one goes down there if they can help it.

[At least as far as he's concerned, but he's much more comfortable with staying back and keeping guard than venturing forth. It may seem like the easy way out, but nothing about the moon inspires bravery in him, and playing the coward is fine with him.]
