The Last City

[ She's wandered from the Tower, as she often does when there's downtime. The Iron Banner competition has been a drain on her time (how long did it take to earn a cloak?), but she's pulled her sore body away. Decked out in civilian attire and with a soccer ball tucked underneath her arm, the only feature that identifies her as a guardian is her usual cloak of the unborn that she wears proudly. It's a reminder of her duty and promise to those that reside here.

The market district always gets the most of her attention and she stops at various vendors. Most already know what the hunter is searching for, whether they're small, colorful toys or items she can use for arts and crafting. It's the little things that grab her attention and she's not worried if her pockets and bag end up filled with knick-knacks.

If she's not wandering the market district, she's found a group of human children to start a pick-up game of soccer with in an open square. It's one of the few games she knows the rules of, though she's happy to bend them. It's not often the children get to play games with a guardian and if they come away learning a trick or two, she's done her job. ]

[There's only so much a woman can do in the Iron Banner, especially once she's hit rank five. Again. Bereft of her usual time-killing Crucible antics, Mykelle decides to go visit the city. She has a few friends there, back from the days when she took cooking lessons and taught knitting at the local shops.

She heads through the marketplace dressed in civilian clothes, bright blues and whites and golds that match her Freeholder's Mark. Maybe she once lived in a city like this. She doesn't remember.

It's hard for a guardian to be friends with regular people, she discovered. They age, they get sick, she die. Over time, she distanced herself from them. Maybe today she just wants to try again.]

[ She's found paper. Paper in all sorts of colors. She could use that to make all kinds of shapes and decorations with what she has back home. There's a bright smile on her face as she fans the sheets out in front of her. Perfect.

She's still smiling when a she catches sight of a familiar face walking by. ]

[Mykelle reaches for a skein of sock yarn in a perfect Sunsetting orange and is holding it to her throat to feel when she hears her name. Embarrassed, she turns toward the speaker with blush highlighting her cheeks.]

Annalise? What brings you to the city?

[ What wouldn't bring her to the city? Somehow, her smile widens and she turns to show off the paper she's holding. ]

I needed to go shopping.

I suppose that's a valid reason. For anything in particular?

I have a few sellers I visit. [ She tucks the paper under her arm with the soccer ball. ] Are you searching for trinkets?

No. Yarn, actually. I--I think I used to knit. It relaxes me.

You knit? [ Ohoho. ] What can you make?

Practical things, really. Scarves, gloves, socks.

So that's why boss has all those colorful socks around his place...

You noticed? Yeah, that was me.

Think you can make sock puppets? We could put on a show for boss. He could use a few laughs.

Absolutely!

[Regular socks might be better for this, but knitted embellishments would be brilliant.]

[Alright, everything is synced, it doesn't take long to make it down to the city, and he's transmatting out. Thankfully it's closer to the market area this time around, because while wandering around is fun, he's on a mission right now. He'd gotten the pens, but now apparently it's super pertinent to get the stars.

And frankly Annalise is a little scary when she wants something. Fun, but scary. So stars it is.]

[ Oh, he doesn't know scary. Not yet. She's just... enthusiastic and is smiling when she comes out of transmat. Glow-in-the-dark stars, who had thought that was even possible.

She knows this part of the city very well and she's already leading the way towards the market district. ]

Do you remember who was selling them?

[Alright, she knows better, he's more than happy to let her lead the way. Easier than trying to bumble his way through.]

Uh...little place near the place that sells used books? Saw the pens in a window there.

[ She tilts her head to the side. Yeah, she's seen a place like that and she's heading that way. ]

And they have those stars you mentioned?

I mean I think so? I definitely saw stars and they looked like the right color.

Did you see them with the light off?

[rocketsout]

Well, I mean...like...it's not like it's super sunny here or anything.

...You don't know if they glow? [ Let her just turn and stare at you, Liam. Stare. ]

They looked like they did!

[That is not a friendly look.]

Look if they don't, we can find ones that do

Did you take a picture of them while you were there?

[ Maybe she can see the glow from that. ]

No, just the pens. Like I didn't think you'd want them??

You really think I'd pass up stars that glow and I can have in my house? [ The answer here is so painfully obvious. ]
